"I just go with the flow, I follow the yellow brick road. I don't know where it's going to lead me, but I follow it." ~ Grace Jones
Life can feel like a trip to Emerald City. That place of happiness, love and peace that we as humans long to visit.
Creatively speaking, it can feel like you are walking on the yellow brick road. You really have no clue where exactly it is going to take you, but you are compelled to keep following it. The ‘Emerald City’ can be a hit song, a painting displayed in a major gallery, or a book published by a national publisher. Whatever it is, you keep following and adjusting.
In April I pulled back from writing a daily blog. I have been deep into the characters and story of The Red Chair. At last I can see a book forming and I have truly enjoyed the process. Clearing my schedule made all the difference and I am so excited to share it with the world very soon. It has been an ‘Emerald City.’
I designed my website three years ago. I have been proud of the look and how it has served me. Alas, it is time for me to shift more gears in an effort to make life easier with more time actually creating instead of managing.
Over the next couple of weeks, thcountzwrites.com will be taken down. In it’s place I will begin using my Patreon page for all things creatively. I have been on Patreon for the past three years and have a lovely group of Patrons that have supported me monetarily. I am forever grateful for their participation in this journey.
If you are fuzzy on just what Patreon is, let me explain. It was started by Jack and Natalee Conte, musicians. It is an ingenious tiered platform that helps creatives, such as myself, generate monthly revenue. The life of a creative is expensive – to be more precise – the materials we need to create is where the cost comes into play.
Patreon allows the creative to provide ‘benefits’ for each level of support. It also allows for ‘free’ memeberships as well. I get to share things on Patreon that I never shared on my website or social media. Little happies that have been for my Patrons alone. Things like a monthly video called Book Nook where I give a recommendation on a great book you should read. Recipes, more in-depth videos on art, music, and lots of other things I want to share. They also get early access to blogs or announcements.
So, if you liked my blogs and would like to continue to read along/follow along on this crazy yellow brick road of mine, I encourage you to sign up for a free membership on my Patreon page. The link will be in a button below this blog. If you are inclined to support me monetarily, that option is there. This is not about money, it’s about sharing positivity. Not everyone can afford to help; I get it!! Just click on the ‘membership’ button and choose the free membership.
I am also re-branding my name to THCountzCreates. It does a better job highlighting who I am. There will eventually be a new website, but for now, Patreon is enough.
I hope you are enjoying the summer and some fresh veggies. There is nothing better than a fresh tomato out of the garden! As always, thank you for listening, reading, etc. Every day I count how grateful and privileged I am to have the life I do.
Remember, follow your yellow brick road, and hopefully mine too!
